RUNIC GARDEN HOUSE BARDON, BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
The project is a response the unique site qualities and topography, the clients nuanced brief and the aspiration to live within sub-tropical gardens and external spaces. The plan ‘terraces’ the steep site with a series of platforms and meandering pathways that culminate in a private sanctuary to the rear. At the centre of the plan is the grand room, both living room and garden alike, it is the space about which all rooms are arranged. This ‘room’ room offers light, ventilation, amenity and suburban views to all rooms surrounding it. The merging of built form and vegetation blur the lines of enclosure, whilst timber screens and louvred walls augment and moderate the dwelling’s own microclimate.
