JONSON LANE BYRON BAY, NSW, AUSTRALIA

Inspired by Byron’s unique natural setting and casual way of life , the architectural design of Jonson Lane provides an exciting mix of residential apartments and laneway style retail experience. Drawing on existing endemic vegetation in the locale the design is anchored by a large central garden space, conceived as the buildings lungs, encouraging a life lived both inside and out.   The gateway site is embraced and showcases the buildings gardens, retail spaces and central laneway upon arrival into town. Byron is a small community where casual interactions thrive, so too the design sets a stage for residents, shoppers and townsfolk to interact. Natural and muted material selections are intended to age gracefully in search of a timeless aesthetic and giving away to the vibrant and lush vegetation. Apartments encourage coastal living on verandahs and in gardens whilst offering comfort and peace after a day on the beach. Developed in unison with the architectural design, the interiors are inspired by the natural material tones of the beach and the rolling hills of the hinterland beyond.
