HILL HOUSE PULLENVALE, BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
Hill House is poised on the ridge of a gently sloping hill overlooking the vast valley below. The family house celebrates its commanding position framing all views to and from. Volumetrically the vast white planes step and fold with drama filling the house with a wonderful play light, shadow and view.
The crisp, minimalist, detailing and embedded structural mastery plays a lead role in achieving the underlining design outcome of – volume, light and view. Volumetrically the vast white planes step and fold in dramatic fashion filling the house with a wonderful play of direct, indirect and filtered sunlight. Similarly, the bold white facades interplay with light and shadow as the sun passes over. Inversely, a view of the house at night presents a gentle glow through the timber screens. The timber screens too, mediate the sunlight, privacy and allow for prevailing breezes to filter through.
